its time for the second airtight release from slovenian based ichisan (aka igor skafar). after some fine releases on the eskimo and solardisco labels our man is back. the cunningly titled full bet ep brings us a fine remix from his last offering on airtight as well as two new quality laden tracks.
first 12inch release under jamal moss new religion alter ego iamthatiam, a four track exploration of heavy tribal drums and spiritual dub atmospheres. peter gabriels passion ost and chain reaction were the inspiration, and its heavy on the late 80s techno industrial dance versus noise side.
home taping is killing music is a fresh new imprint that is all about a return to house music. producer of the moment the revenge (instruments of rapture/jisco music) kicks things off for the label in fine style with the stunning >forever in their debt<. a homage to the house producers that have influenced them and the artists whose samples have continued to drive house music forward expertly channeling the spirit of early chicago warehouse music, but with a modern production twist that truly captures that classic sound, but packs enough punch to wipe the floor with most of its peers. on the flip, maverick producer and dj red rack em (tirk/untracked/deep freeze) takes the track on a road trip to detroit, and produces a deep, moody and atmospheric version which brings to mind the work of pepe bradock and theo parrish. two sides, two flavours. both 100% house
a well known classic tune from touche rec, now its back from da early 90s... incl brand new christian smith remix and last but not least the original mix !! the search goes on....
clone west coast series continues with more hot releases! after tyrell and mr pauli its the hasbeens (tyrell & overdose) who deliver the heat!. this is as big as you can get it! we could do a lot of talking about the track and the daily struggle of human beings etc... but just listen. top production leaning on classic italo but in a new modern jacket with sharp production... the clone west coast sound :-) simply irresistible
this is the second experiment from the teslasonic lab. this time, teslasonic descends into the bowels of the globe to bring forth its hidden sounds and to unlock the imprisoned and immense energies. the task is to subdue the devastating spark of prometheus and the thundering bolt of jove, annihilating time and space. from the dark depths of electro to the bright regions of the cosmic sounds. check!
clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!
the model is no stranger to gigolo, and we (the royal we) are no strangers to the model. as a supporter of gigolo records, you, our fated reader, should be familiar with our protagonist previous gigolo adventure. but in the words of the late george harrison, >all things must pass< and with this in mind we would like to reintroduce...
the model doesnt just have his own sound, he has in fact attempted to engineer his own genre: dark-techno-baroque. the sound has been crafted through a penchant for aristocratic mannerisms and a passion for high fashion and low fetish. it also happens to pretty succinctly sum up part of his unique personality. set against a backdrop of refined charm, there s an underbelly of something dark and brutal, which is possibly the best way to describe the a-side >in the night<. in many ways this could be seen as a return to form for gigolo, immediately poppy but structured as a classic song with haunting vocals underpinned with a driving techno rhythm. to further consolidate the techno aesthetic look no further then >flex on the b-side and you have a pounding track that could have been played by daft punk in 96 and will probably find a home with a diverse selection of djs today.
the >vampire funk ep< is the first release from the models forthcoming album on gigolo. the concept is in the same vain, but delves deeper into the dark-side of the model. exploring his fetish with the night and creatures that occupy its opulent corridors. like classic transylvanian tales the music from this album will present details that set the mood and composition to create tracks with narrative regardless of lyrics or words. the result being music that moves both bodies and minds and stirs the blood. as pretentious as this sounds the author of this mindless scrap of paper has the fortunate privilege of speaking from experience. as the mind that moves the hands that moves the keyboard is the mind that is being moved by the music as i type and you read. so we are already part way there. the rest will unfold in the coming months.
culoe de song is a new star from africa. his debut release on innervisions was a one of the best deep house record in this year. this second release is following his unique african touch deep house sound. a side, the fallen shiren is a emotional deep house with the sound of piano loop, african instruments and fantasy african chorus. this track is very modern and first class african taste house music. b side, inspiration is very simple but effective percussive house track. its a timeless dj tool.

seth troxler, shaun reeves and hector present >the royal we<, and their fiendish release party guilt on crosstown rebels will crack the smiles of its most discerning listeners.
nacho patrol presents the africa jet band, a six track ep of mind blowing afro-cosmic jams. legowelt s side project nacho patrol surprised many last year with its great debut! and this time its no different... incredible that this is all done by the same guy! nacho patrol is moving from deep slowjam safari anthems, fuzzy psychedelic afro-funk to early n.y loft style atmospheres, join the africa jet band as the traverse the darkest corners of the dark continent. recommended!
roxour is proud to present fresh music from r-04, a very talented mid 20 boy from downtown tokyo. for r 04 things started about 10 years ago when testing out his first syntheziser. from japanese fascination of composing and living game music soon he was fascinated by the magic of detroit techno. aside from that, he plays on the grand piano with that jazzy - and funkyness of an early stevie wonder. r-04s music is reflecting the city where he comes from. he says many tall inorganic buildings and night scene always inspire me. his first official release gazing at the moon is somewhere between jazz and techno. its a kind of tribute to the so called chu shu no meigetsu convention, the autumn time in japan, when no one can ignore the beauty of the big shiny full moon. also i composed this track meaning that we had better keep emotional leeway to enjoy the full moon no matter how busy we are. patrick alavis ace remix is turning the jazz and detroit techno rooted original into a deep roller.

>who is the person you would most like to work with?< for claude vonstroke, its definitely bootsy collins - the biggest personality in parliament funkadelic and funniest character the funk world has ever seen. we couldn’t be any more excited to have bootsy on dirtybird and this crazy collaboration of styles is the lead single on claude vonstroke’s 2nd album, “bird brain.” if you haven’t heard of bootsy we couldn’t write it better than rolling stone… “bootsy collins’ rubber band was the most entertaining and longest-running spin-off of george clinton’s eternal p-funk circus, and that’s because bootsy is a true star, the clown prince of comic, psychedelic, good-times funk – if he weren’t such a genius of the bass, you’d think he was jimmie walker in a sequined costume, star-shaped mirrored shades included. his career is like a horatio alger story based in chocolate city: plucked from teenage obscurity in 1969 to play with james brown, the former william collins of cincinnati brought a slap-happy zest to jb’s sound, then hooked up with clinton and was reborn in his image, with a little help from lsd.” it is certain that claude vonstroke is not nearly as accomplished as bootsy collins, but he takes the same tongue-in-cheek approach to his music and that’s why this collaboration really works. both claude and bootsy believe you got to get up for the down stroke and there’s no way to fake the funk or your nose will grow, pinocchio!
sons of the dragon debuted last year on a mysterious white vinyl double out of detroit, they awake again to bring us >the journey of qui niu< and cast their firey wrath. the cv313 rework plays off the original version but adds a low end throb so deep it could shake the heavens, a rhythmic shuffle which begs you to move and a hypnotizing symphony of lo fi sonic destruction, its totally menacing. the new sqx project debuts with a killer, taking a different approach to the original, they use the synthesized textures as warm sonic fragments. its as if they were building a sonic puzzle but changing all the pieces around while assembling, leaving us with a rhythmic synth workout of the highest order, for your mind or the floor. a destined to be classic, do not miss
coming up with another lovely bouncer of dimi angÚlis & jeroen and a deep monster of workshops lowtec, smallville starts a limited series of 4 terrific double a-side 12inches to end up in an early autumns smallville compilation. >our life with the wave< by dutch dreamteam dimi angÚlis & jeroen search pumps straight forward with an elegant detroit string thrill, based on mike huckabys legendary waldorf wave sample library. man of the hour lowtec continues with a tribute to manchesters deepest nightlife institution >meandyou<, enflaming the hearts of all you lowlife connaisseurs. and suddenly its morning
its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.
we are proud to welcome the legend that is todd terry. rightly considered as one of the pioneers of the house scene, his work & reputation over the years are second to none, and with an abundance of chart hits & underground classics, its no wonder todd earned the nickname of >god<. a day in the life was one of the early todd productions under his black riot moniker, brought back up to date 20 years on and featuring an exclusive 2009 mix from the >god< himself
more exciting deep house cuts on the new wt records done by will speculator. this time its another new name (well.. sort off.. hunee already did release on feel music as hunch, and is slowly building a reputation as dj) this 12 vinyl release fits well between genres, crossing deep house, disco, and detroit techno. the title track even has some quite jazzy keys. but the killer is probably rare silk which is simply magical. quality release just like the 1st wt records! check!
#1 karotte charts, played by richie hawtin, ivan smagghe, brothers vibe, len faki, dubfire, bart skils, marc romboy. the first tracks from gregor treshers new album >the life wire<, that will be released in september 2009. its two original tracks that will be prereleased on a vinyl 12inch in august with an amazing remix by petar dundov!!
rock it is a full on dance floor assault thats fastly become the peoples anthem of 2009. already and permanent fixture with virtually every djs set within dnb and beyond, including the shows of zane lowe and annie mac. automatically recognisable with its half time intro, vocoder vocal hooks and lead line, you wouldnt be mistaken if you thought this tracks was talking to you. this has organic cross over appeal written all over it and we could definitely see some sort of national play list with this track on it.follow the light, is an awesome piece of musical production in its own right. this has become one of the most anticipated releases for ram records and sub focus since he debuted it nationally during his dj set at glastonbury that was broadcast live on radio 1. as such it soon become zane lowes hottest record in the world and has gained numerous plays radio wise since and has become a permanent fixture in the sets of dance musics a list djs worldwide.
determined to write a new chapter in nycs long history of dance music, marcos cabral and jacques renault (think dfa, rekids, im a cliche, wurst edits, chinatown, editions disco, rvng, trapez, and more) have decided to launch their own record label on the prowl. with a heavy nod to american classic house, techno, and disco, otp listeners should expect a variety of sound that will propel them to dance for years to come. the first otp instalment entitled the poltergeist throws a heavy blow of dark acid bass, todd terry-esque stabs, and proper dubbed out distortion for a feeling that will leave listeners floored... leaving even the most stubborn of listeners open for more. house music, raw and unrestricted. the b-side, not to be overshadowed, brings us dont block the box. an a-side in its own right, delivering us good old fashioned house music with hypnotically filtered samples and pulsing arms in the air swells of resonance.
mit einem haufen guter kritiken im ruecken erscheint you re in the painting you saw, das debut des daenischen indie wunders lily electric, 2009 auch in deutschland. die in berlin lebende band veroeffentlicht ihr debut nach zwei jahren intensiven tourens und geht somit nicht mehr ganz unbekannt an den start. im februar 2009 waren lily electric gemeinsam mit slut unterwegs, viele festivalauftritte machten die band zwischen austin und riga bekannt. you re in the painting you saw entstand zusammen mit mikkel holtoug in einem alten radiostudio in berlin lichtenberg. gemischt hat dimitri tikovoi (john cale, placebo, the horrors).

future classic continues its momentum with the future classic attractions 12-inch sampler from a full-length compilation of the same name previewing the immense quality of talent emerging from australian shores. first up come the soulful broken beats of eddit, known for his solid 12Æs on equatorial and freestyle records. the a2 rumpski is a hip house jam from meem with a chunky bassline dropping in the second half of the track reminiscent of early morgan geist. flip and we are treated to mutual sigh, a sublime late night production by deepchild (following up his recent blackness of the sea classic) in collaboration with gauche. touch sensitive concludes the sampler with body stop, a standout slow burner of new school disco deepness. look out for the future classic attractions mix cd featuring 12 exclusive tracks mixed by nathan mclay, a quality overview of the bourgeoning australian scene.
the third release in audions slow-drip of new music is a devastating trifecta, a trio of tracks that hit hard and leave a mark. with each taste of the new audion, it becomes clear that matthew dears dancefloor alias is deeper, darker and more nuanced than ever before while maintaining a lose-your-mind edge that is impossible to resist.
the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.
portuguese based social disco club (aka humberto matias) delivers some laid back mediterranean spiced disco groove. >the way you move< sleeks along with sultry keys, latin groove, lazy percussion and all the flavour of an early-evening island vista. maia adds his tastefully high catchy vocals to round off the vibe. up on the edit is our pal greg wilson who re-jigs like only he can, creating a more floor based mix. the original is all about the great vocals whilst new norwegian disco-don diskjokke gives us his late 80s balearic sounding re-rub.. its ibiza 88 all over again.. drop the deal friends
quintessentials welcome the zohar! deep, raw and real? well then, thats exactly what the zohars music is all about - and much more! its soulful, its funky yet dark! its black music! what or who is the zohar? we dont know. no one knows. the mystery shall remain sealed. enjoy those 3 fabulous tracks! peace!
what started with an anonymous cd handed out in a dark club to serafin, found its way via marcus worgull to a mesmerized and raving running back office. a puzzling e-mail address later the mysterious copenhagen housing authority called precious system agreed to an adhesion contract. the merry world of modern communication! >the voice from planet love< is transported in an acid disco spaceship, made with some extraterrestrial super powers and fueled with the mighty kryptonite of house music. additional action comes from said marcus worgull after a visit to planet chic-a-go and an edit of his remix by dj dixon. have no fear!
with spins from heavy weights bob sinclar, erick morillo, hector romero and many more, andy caldwells latest release continues to garner a stellar response. featuring the vocal talents of mr. v and remixes from matteo dimar, tim weeks and bale & voltaire, this one is already lighting up the airwaves and dance floors worldwide.

the infamous pro team is back for the sequel, its the pro ep 2! promo and the dj producer pronounce their refusal to recognize and deliver you 4 pieces of crossed over hardcore beats. dutch dynamics and british breaks deliver the next step in crowd movements. were talking co op refuse to recognize, an insane producer remix of centrifuge, promos uk experiment cant fake the breaks and a special producer beastly machinery retrofit of dusty old whiplash, originally by beastmachines. original funk with added chaos for premium taste!
its been 5 yrs since the last record was released on tetrode music. (the deep theory ep). the wait is over and the duo of damon lamar and specter have returned. this ep is picking up right where they have left off. deeply rooted in the underwater sound that have made the releases on tetrode must haves by heads around the world. side a is produced by specter and he drops his signature beatdown sound. >bazerko< is a stripped down minimal heater that builds up with 707 drums, sub bass and a hammond organ riff that really bring this track together. >nighthawk< is a beautiful laid out sunrise track. smooth drums, warm pads, and bubbly appregiated synths. inspiration drawn from larry heard and the deep techno sound of the 90Æs. side b is produced by damon lamar. >large crowd< is this beating track pulled and resurrected from the vault. heavy percussion loop, dirty bass, deep chords and a haunting vocal that must be heard to understand the meaning. >put it on ice< is a laid back downtempo track that shows the versatility of damon lamar. lush strings, dubby bass and melodic keys make it a track that just grooves and soothes the ear. tetrode music has returned with this solid offering and one thing for sure is the sound hasnÆt changed ... just more refined.
hot on the heels of phonica records inaugural release comes a new 12inch on the label from jc freaks, with a very special remix from the revenge. jc freaks is the duo of anthea nzekwu and werner niedermeier. like hector, who helmed phonica 001 with ben bryant, anthea is phonica through-and-through, working behind the counter at the london store. an award-winning dj, she produces with werner as jc freaks and has already released two acclaimed 12inchs on mojuba offshoot wandering. dub praise is a sultry, funked-up assault on the dancefloor, incredibly direct and immediate but full of subtle modulations and dub chords. theres a jacking, almost boompty feel to the track, but the blissed-out vocal snippets, rich synth-tones and burbling acid licks give it a timeless, rolling quality beyond that. this is seriously addictive stuff. on the flip theres a remix from the revenge, aka graeme clark. phonica have been huge fans of clarks releases on labels like jiscomusic and instruments of rapture over the years, both solo and as part of 6th borough project. here he reimagines dub praise as a deep disco track which is all spaced-out percussion, breezy keys and low-slung bass but has real character and intensity to it. so it is that the eponymous label run out of londons best electronic music store continues its march on the worlds dancefloors and dj-boxes - with a 12 inch of hypnotic house class that fizzes with ideas and, more than anything, groove
with electric rescue, the french dj d jedi, who is known all over paris, becomes a part of the cocoon family. he is connected with the development of techno in france already since the beginning of the nineties. despite being busy as a producer for commercials and soundtracks, he always finds some time to release exciting electronic music on imprints such as f comm, communique, elp media and paul nazcas label scandium, where he has released his debut album >el.ue< three years ago. with the two tracks on >the darkest star<, electric rescue succeeds in the daring feat of transforming the energy of rave tracks from the early nineties into the present time without producing an anachronistic impression. besides a tectonically shaking bass drum, the title track relies on the power of sound, a superlative of raw club energy with a twist of irony, which can set a surprising climax with a steadily rising noise level, even after almost ten minutes. >the devils dance< is grafting a comparably brute state-of-emergency techno in a somehow restrained way, rhythm-wise, but is no less effective with its distinctive acid sound effects. and who said that modern techno cant use the tradition of belgian rave-signal-floor-burners?
minimalplus 004 with label head gideon known from his work on sino (hong kong), kanzleramt (berlin), lessismorecordings, anticlub, southern comfort, grayarea. after his first release on his own imprint minimalplus which got big plays he is back. this time in a collaboration with revolve. this edition brings 2 tracks floating between minimal and techno. we are the sound of the underground (m version) is a minimalistic dj tool with a pumping groove, that may remind a little like the early days of minimal, when it was still straight forward and effective. we are the sound of the underground (t version) is more techno minded version of the title track, with its shuffle and huge drive, it is sure to move the more underground dance floors.
legendary sub club resident harri, teams up with fellow glaswegians and justifiably hyped producers the revenge to cook up this stripped back and relentless raw house joint. already a massive cut for a select few djs serviced well upfront, this track has cropped up on more than a few most wanted lists. its thundering main hook driven along with fierce percussion and a simmering tension that seems set to boil over never fails. the dub mix swaps the ferocious claps for a haunting bell tone, paving the way for a tripped out excursion 20.000 leagues under. vera completes the 12inch with her hypnotising tribal groove punctuated with rising synths that offers a lighter, brighter take on the original.
